Pope Francis is back in action after his summer surgery with a full fall schedule at the Vatican. In this NCR Live conversation, host and NCR opinion editor Olga Segura talks to NCR Vatican correspondent Christopher White and The Tablet Rome Correspondent Christopher Lamb following Francis' recent papal trip to Hungary and Slovakia.
Background reading:
- Aboard the papal plane home to Rome, Francis said that while he did not want to specifically address the particular situation in the United States, the question of whether pro-choice Catholic politicans should receive Communion is "pastoral."
- Francis significantly widened the scope of the next planned meeting of the world's Catholic bishops, postponing the event by one year to allow for periods of consultation in every local diocese and at the continental level before the opening of the usual Vatican gathering of prelates.
