Wow. Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island recently offered a master class in how to debunk climate change deniers on the floor of the U.S. Senate. Ouch.
Senator Whitehouse goes into great detail about who actually believes in climate change and who is doing something about it: NASA; the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; the U.S. military; the property and casualty industry; and major U.S. corporations like Coke, Pepsi, Google, Apple, and Mars Candy. Twice in his speech, he references the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops among those major entities trying to urgently address climate change. Of course, the takedown would have been slightly stronger had Senator Whitehouse invoked Pope Francis himself, who has really changed the tone and emphasis from Rome on climate change.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) didn't hold back while schooling his colleague, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Ok.), about the reality of climate change.
Inhofe, who has previously stated he thinks climate change is "laughable" and a "hoax," blocked a Senate resolution acknowledging climate change is real on Tuesday. As ThinkProgress points out, that's when Whitehouse jumped in to give Inhofe a lesson in science.
"I appreciate very much having had the opportunity to hear those words, from what I can only describe as an alternate reality, from the one that I inhabit anyway," Whitehouse said after Inhofe's remarks.
