In this morning's Washington Post, Rachel Weiner on Speaker John Boehner's dedication to Catholic schools in the District. DC's non-voting representative to Congress, Eleanor Holmes Norton, makes one of the dumber comments, saying, "I can understand his devotion to Catholic schools, but the point here ought to be what is in the best interest of the District's children." Ms. Norton - get a clue. A Catholic education is certainly in the best interest of those kids who got to go to our schools. The only pity is that more couldn't get the opportunity to do so.
Also in WaPo, an article on how kids' sports are being ruined by rich parents and pols looking to trim school budgets. Nothing kills like excess.
At Salt & Light, five takeaways from the pope's trip to the U.S. The last point will remain very relevant for the synod.
And, at Millennial, Robert Christian's remarks at the Democrats for Life conference this past week here in DC.
