On Fox News Sunday, Cardinal Donald Wuerl and Fr. Tom Rosica preview the papal trip. I especially liked the way Rosica pushed back against the rightwing complaints that a few gay activists will be among the 15,000 people coming to the White House welcoming ceremony. Tickets to that ceremony are not exactly hard to come by - I have gotten two offers, one as late as this morning!
Politico has a report on the pope's haters too, not as good as mine, but not bad either.
At Aletiae, Elizabeth Scalia thinks it is Obama who is trying to manipulate the pope. Even if she were right, and Fr. Rosica dispels that possibility in the video linked above, at least Obama is respectful! Scalia is precisely the kind of right-of-center RC who should be calling out the pope's haters on the right this week. Instead, she is misrepresenting an event at the White House and its significance.
