At Cardus' Comment public theology blog, an interesting commentary by a self-described eco-skeptic on Laudato Si'. I am not sure I agree with all of the points the author tries to make, but at least he is engaging the text and not dismissing it out of hand. If more eco-skeptics do the same, all the better.

Related to my column this morning, a GOP strategist talks about pro-life messaging in Texas. Dems take note: If you create a big tent on abortion, you will have more success than if you make abortion a litmus test for all your candidates. And this is in Texas, not Michigan's First congressional ditrict. The money quote:
We found something remarkable. The best targets for pro-life messaging were Democratic-leaning women, young voters and Hispanic voters. Exposure to just one pro-life video ad shifted Democratic-leaning women by 10 points away from Davis and toward Abbott.
