The Washington Post has an update on PROMESA, the bill being voted on today by the U.S. House and aimed at addressing the fiscal and humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico. A key amendment today will call for a special focus on fighting child poverty on the island. Kudos to Speaker Ryan and Congressmen Bishop and Duffy, all of whom took on some powerful interests to see this legislation to the floor.
At Our Sunday Visitor, a podcast with Bishop Denis Madden on the anniversary of Laudato Si' and how he finds that encyclical resonating with his pastoral experience in inner city Baltimore.
At Politico, the 11 states they think will decide the election in November. Hard to argue with the list, or how they see each state playing out. That said, I think we cannot discount the possibility of a Trump implosion. If he is caught on tape, the way Romney was, saying something that is flippant or worse, I could see his support collapsing.
