Smith teaches courses on anti-corruption at the George Washington University Law School and was formerly the chief of litigation at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and  a top lawyer at Federal Home Loan Bank Board and the Federal Communications Commission. He lives in Media, Pennsylvania.

Would all of these reforms at the Vatican and the capitals of so many countries be happening now in the 21st century if Carter hadn't had the faith and found the courage to fight corruption?
