1st Cebu Archdiocesan Conference on Climate Emergency

After the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines issued a Pastoral Letter entitled "An Urgent Call for Ecological Conversion, Hope in the Face of Climate Emergency last July 16, 2019, different Archdiocesan and Diocesan groups have responded and are now preparing local conferences in order to involve the Parishes and Basic Ecclesial Communities in discerning, formulating and implementing their collective "Laudato Si'" response and action plans. The Cebu Archdiocesan Commission on Environmental Concerns with its conference partners WeGen Laudato Si' and Oceana are working with other organizations to launch this 1st Cebu Archdiocesan Conference on Climate Emergency with the hope of making it the template and model for other dioceses to follow. At least 500 priests and lay- leaders from 160 parishes are attending together with representatives from the Academe, Business Sector, Civil Society Groups and the Local Government units will participate.
