Renewal is a particularly important theme, and we all need renewal after the seemingly endless COVID and its variants. After St. Francis’ conversion, he repaired and restored an ancient church. He renewed it. While most scholars focus on different themes in the Psalms, renewal emerges as a consistent theme within them. The Psalms help us consider renewal on a personal and societal level, something we can also see in the life of St. Francis. As we seek renewal, we will see the Psalms pushing us toward nature/creation and the Holy Spirit, two dominant motifs in the life of St. Francis.
Dr. Garrett Galvin, OFM, will lead this 15th lecture in the 2021 Franciscan Zoom Lecture Series. Prior lectures available on YouTube Channel "FST EDU1."
