Sign the petition to support Fr. Roy
by Jamie L Manson on Aug. 09, 2011
As you've been reading in NCR, Fr. Roy Bourgeois has been given his second warning to recant his support of women's ordination.
In an effort to support Fr. Roy, the Women's Ordination Conference has created an online petition. They have already collected 9,000 signatures. Their goal is to reach 10,000 signatures by tomorrow night.
In a letter to his Maryknoll brothers responding to this second warning, Fr. Roy wrote, "As you know, I am not a lone voice crying out in the wilderness for the ordination of women."
By signing the petition, we can reaffirm the truth of Fr. Roy's statement.

This is a very interesting
This is a very interesting situation about the Church, that is the Roman Catholic Church: (I am a Roman Catholic myself) We claim to be the Church of Christ (the Anointed One) But who anointed one we are talking about? It is clearly not Jesus of Nazareth that we Catholics follow, as his teachings and actions, according to scripture (canonical and not) were radical and inclusive of women. The Catholic Church has been adapting this teachings or some are right down ignored and interpreting them to comply and go along with their own interest and control by the hierarchical powers (Rom 2:23),. Is this really the Church of Jesus? Are we really following his vision, his steps, his radicalism and inclusion? A church that claims to be pro-social justice and to work for it around the globe, but has not social justice within it is not a follower of Jesus Christ. We are not the followers of this great teacher, and if we keep on claiming that, we only are liars and posers. A church that dares to threat to excommunicate priests and religious men and women that follow their conscience as stipulated by the same Church, and in ultimately following Jesus of Nazareth’s teachings and wisdom is a sorry excuse for a church. This Church that has not excommunicated pedophile priests, and the clergy and hierarchy leaders that covered these scandals is not a church (Luk 17:12; Mar 9:43). A church that grants more compassion and support for criminals (pedophile priests) that have violated the trust of children, but cannot have compassion for people that are supporting one of the most vulnerable members of society and church (women) may not be called the church of Jesus Christ. But wait, as I said before, Christ means “Anointed one” and not precisely Jesus of Nazareth. So, who are we, as Roman Catholic Church really following?
Blessings from your sister in the Vatican, the (new) Christ,
Veronica
PS: I am really upset at the term church, because it could meant the whole people, and sometimes is referred as the church or hierarchy or “leadership”. Here the church is the “hierarchy” and the many people that support this culture of bullying, complacency and outright anti-Jesus’ teachings. (Rom 2:23), (Mat 23:3-7)
SUPPORT Fr. ROY, for the sake of Jesus' teachings.
You really need to evaluate
You really need to evaluate yourself and if YOU are truely catholic. It is sacrilege to put down the church as you are. You are not only putting down the church, but the Holy Spirit who guides and protects our church when it comes to faith and morals. If you don't know or understand why the church has the teaching of only men being priests then you should look and research that answer before bad mouthing the church. Sins against the Holy Spirit are not forgiven as Jesus says. You should read the letter written by Pope John Paul II regarding this matter called "On Reserving Priestly Ordination to Men Alone (Ordinatio Sacerdotalis). Or do you also think you know more than the church? When we have our own interpretations of what the Bible says you can make it say whatever you want it to say, thus the 50 million other religions in this world. If you would learn a bit more about our faith and it's history of infallibility when it comes to faith and morals; authority of the pope you would understand a bit better. Just watch Marcus Groddi's show The Journey Home and you'll see plenty of examples of converts to our faith and how they came to understand our church as the true church better than you so called catholic do. Research answers to your questions before putting down our church.
How can anybody continue to
How can anybody continue to call themselves Catholic and support this open call for heresy? Where is the obedience to God and his plan? It is truly sad when someone puts themself and what they want before God and what God wants.
Not only the Ordination of
Not only the Ordination of women but also of married men. How many former priest would love to come back to wearing the robe on Sunday.
No. I support Maryknoll.
No. I support Maryknoll. There is no place in active ministry for a priest who refuses to be obedient to his superiors and to the Church. I will pray for Father that he may, at some point, realize the error of his ways and repent of his pride and his disobedience.
To support Maryknoll is to
To support Maryknoll is to support our saintly Reverend Father Roy Bourgeois, MM, fully against the abuses of this particular Vatican. To support Maryknoll is also to hear and to support the former excellent Editor in Chief of Maryknoll Magazine, the Reverend Father Miguel D'Escoto, MM, for deceades now abused by the unjust and totalitarian wojtylian dictates against the clear and just aspirations of our poor People of God with whom Maryknoll has traditionally walked the pilgrim path to the Reign of God's liberation.
To support Maryknoll is to support our beloved son and patriarch of Maryknoll, Eugene Kennedy here, and to read him with deepest appreciation.
Clint, do you support Maryknoll?
The average Catholic in the
The average Catholic in the pew has no idea who Bourgeois is. The man has received many warning on his heretical views. It's time for him to move on.
The average Catholic in the
The average Catholic in the pew has been deprived of knowing the decades of courageous action the Reverend Father Roy Bourgeois has taken for peace, in living truly the Gospel, not only in Latin America, but in protesting our nation's sinful abuses through the school of torture called the School of the Americas, and for his courageous stand against Reagan's mercenary army called the contras who invaded with our tax dollars Nicaragua in the eighties, where I first met Father Roy in Terrabonna, visiting another Maryknoll priest, Ted Custer.
The fact the average Catholic in the anglo American pew knows nothing of this long and courageous Catholic history witnessing and preaching the Gospel says much of the shameful and pitiful church we suffer in anglo America, subservient to profiting the warrior Republican party.

In Missouri, they argued and won a case in court saying that the Archdiocese was not responsible for the actions of a priest because he was not on church property. The church is using this to avoid responsibility and payment of damages. Would this apply to Fr. Roy?
Fr. Roy is an excellent
Fr. Roy is an excellent example of priesthood who has worked tirelessly for the things that he believes in. Please allow him to remain a priest in good standing. His example of discipleship is one that we could all follow.
they're just after his
they're just after his pension to help pay off all of the court cases against marcial's legionnaires.
His believing in what his
His believing in what his Church opposes destroys his "good standing" as one who is sworn to teach others to believe as they believe.
The consistency of the
The consistency of the Catholic Church,in all time and in this time, requires that Bourgeois and his school of thought be excluded.
Why are they hanging onto the
Why are they hanging onto the Roman Catholic church if they have no other wish than to fight with it???
Move on to the Anglican church or to some other Protestant demonination who permits it already. I believe that many of these people are simply attention seekers.
