This falls into the category "We couldn't make this up." A press release popped into my inbox this morning:

With the news that Pope Benedict XVI is to visit Britain in 2010, Ireland’s biggest bookmaker Paddy Power are offering a wide range of betting opportunities to commemorate the planned Papal excursion.

What are these "betting opportunities to commemorate the planned Papal excursion"? A few of note:

How many people will attend The Pope’s Wembley Mass?
Where will the largest crowd turnout be to see The Pope?
How long will the Pope stay in the UK?
When will the Pope visit Rep. of Ireland?

Paddy Power is predicting a sell out crowd at Wembley stadium or more than 85,000 people.

Gordon Brown take note. You are not the odds on favorite to be the prime minister to meet the pontiff. The punters are going with Tory leader David Cameron.
