Here is a report about a young priest in Kansas City denied a lesbian couple communion at the funeral of the mother of one of the women. Recently, the Holy Father warned about young priests who are "little monsters." This behavior by the priest is not as over-the-top offensive as the antics of the Westboro Baptist Church, which protests at funerals of gay people, and even at the funerals of people in the military who are not gay but belonged to an institution that now treats gays and lesbians fairly. But, people - a funeral is not time to make a culture war statement. It is a time to help a family grieve and renew their faith in the sure hope in the Resurrection. Everything else can wait. Is this so hard to see? Lord, preserve your Church from these little monsters.
