B16's Address to the Curia

Here is the link. I will write in detail about this speech subsequently. I am sure the Holy Father's remarks about gender as a given and not as a social construction will earn him some scorn. I am also sure that some of the people criticizing the Holy Father are the same people who applaud our editorial at NCR about Notre Dame's initiating a campus group for gay and lesbian students in which we stated: "The church, like all of society, has come to realize that its centuries-old view that same-sex activity is an aberration is not how lesbian, gay, transgender or bisexual people experience themselves. For them, their sexual attraction is not a choice, still less a perverse one. For them, their sexuality is, as it is for straight people, part of their human makeup, a given."
