The American Life League is now attacking Santa Fe Archbishop Michael Sheehan. (And, I am delighted to earn a mention in their attack as well.) Sheehan spoke at the USCCB meeting to defend the work of Catholic Relief Services from ALL's attacks on their work, attacks I might add that were launched only after CRS canceled a large printing contract with the husband of ALL's foundress Judie Brown. Of all the groups on the Catholic right that fit the "self-absorbed," "obsessed" with "small-minded rules," attitudes that Papa Francesco keeps railing against, ALL is the most egregious. At ALL, scrupulosity has thoroughly supplanted generosity and, just so, they epitomize in their words and deeds precisely why so many people tune the Church out.
