Joshua J. McElwee is an NCR staff writer whose reporting and feature writing have earned several awards from the Catholic Press Association and have been featured in The Huffington Post, The Irish Catholic, and other outlets.
He was also a finalist for the Religion Newswriters Association's award for Magazine News Religion Reporter of the Year in 2012 and was a finalist for that organization's award for Religion Feature Writer of the Year in 2013.
Among international assignments, McElwee has reported for NCR from Kenya, Japan, and the Vatican. A graduate of The Catholic University of America, he is also a member of the Holy Family Catholic Worker community in Kansas City, Mo. As of July 1, 2013, he will take up a new role at NCR as national correspondent.
