The Vatican lifted its ban on the ordination of married men to the priesthood in Eastern Catholic churches outside their traditional territories, including the U.S., Canada and Australia.

There continues to be limited movement on the issue of mandatory celibacy. The New York Times is reporting that Catholic and Orthodox officials have requested that the Vatican grant them the authority to ordain married men to the priesthood.
On Feb. 27, with permission granted by Pope Francis, a married deacon was ordained a priest at St. Raymond's Maronite Cathedral in St. Louis.
