Once again, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude for the generosity you all have shown to NCR. We are moving over closer to that $100,000 goal. We're closer, but still not there.
To help us move even closer, Landon Rowland has pledged to match the next $5,000 that comes in. Please take up Landon's challenge. Donate now .
Thanks to all who have given. As I wrote yesterday , we pledge to use your gifts wisely and carefully to continue our mission of telling the stories about the church in the world. But we have less than a day and a half left in the Webathon, and if we want to meet our overall goal, we need to raise as much money today and tomorrow as we did Wednesday and Thursday. Please donate now.
We only come to our Web readers once a year with this plea for money. The simple truth is that the brand of journalism that NCR does costs a good deal of money. I have referred to it earlier in the week as "boots-on-the-ground journalism." We don't cull other news sources for bits and pieces of information and then write long rambling posts about things we have read somewhere on the Internet.
Our reporters are talking with the newsmakers and direct sources. We're on the phone and sitting face-to-face talking with people touched firsthand by some incident or event. We're asking questions of experts and other people in the know. That is intense work. It is time-consuming, and it is expensive. That is why we come to you, once a year, to ask for your help in meeting these needs.
Please help us today. If you have already given, please send this appeal to your family, your friends, other people you know in the church you attend. Send the appeal to your prayer group, your discussion group. We need a "loaves and fishes" moment here. If everyone who visits this website this week would give $10 we would exceeded our goal.
If you know someone who reads NCRonline.org, ask them if they have contributed yet. If they haven't urge them to do it. Please donate now .
