Pax Christi and the Sisters of Mercy are among groups sponsoring a live webcast teach-in on Syria and U.S. foreign policy for the Middle East tomorrow at 6:30-7:30 p.m. eastern time.
You can watch the livestream at http://www.busboysandpoets.com/videos/live-streaming
Although a U.S. led airstrike was avoided in Syria and a U.N. chemical weapons team has begun the process of uncovering and destroying Syria’s chemical weapons, the civil war continues and the international communities stalemate on how to handle the crisis is little changed. According to a press release from the teach-in organizers, “a dynamic panel” will look at questions like:
- What's happening now, on the ground in Syria and on the diplomatic front?
- How did the peace movement in the U.S. and world-wide stop Washington from proceeding with military action in Syria
- How can we build on our success to change U.S. policy in the region?
- … and our next steps to change US policy in the region.”
Here are few more details . The sponsoring organizations are: Peace Action, Pax Christi, Sisters of Mercy, Win Without War, Institute for Policy Studies, CodePink, Progressive Democrats of America, American Friends Service Committee ,Peace and Justice Resource Center, U.S. Labor Against the War, United for Peace and Justice, Friends Committee on National Legislation, Women's Action for New Directions.
