Mercy Sister Anne Ware on differences with the bishops

Tom Roberts  |  Jun. 12, 2012 NCR Today

The upside to the Vatican investigation of LCWR is that someone like Mercy Sr. Anne Ware of Silver Spring, MD, is asked to articulate for the wider culture what it means to be a sister. It's somewhat akin to the Vatican condemning a theologian's work. All of a sudden it has an unimaginably large audience and is being discussed everywhere. Today the nuns are being asked to explain themselves in endless venues. And no one does a better job of describing what it means to be a sister and how they live than the sisters themselves.

Ware was interviewed for a story today in The Washington Post [1].
