Tom Sharpe died at the age of 85 yesterday. This makes me very sad.
His book "Wilt" was the single funniest book I have ever read. I remember precisely, standing in the line at the airport in Mexico City to get my passport stamped, reading "Wilt" and getting to the sentence, "But Just was made of sterner stuff," and laughing so uncontrollably that people turned and stared at me, and it took all of my mental concentration to focus on the questions of the custom official when I got to the front of the line. If you have never read "Wilt" or Sharpe's other books, do yourself a favor and get them.
