NCR's Person of the Year

Michael Sean Winters  |  Dec. 26, 2012 Distinctly Catholic

In case you missed it on the homepage [1], NCR has announced its Person of the Year: John Roberts, the Chief Justice of the United States.

I have spent more time the last year learning about legal issues than I had ever intended to do. I have learned that certainly Roberts' views would not cohere with mine on many issues. But, I think NCR has made and interesting and important choice. The Chief Justice is exemplary of a type of conservative Catholic legal scholar who has had a profound effect on the life of the nation and there is no doubt that he is excellent at what he does, no matter whether you agree with him or not. And, this year, and for years to come, Roberts will have a profound effect on the life of the nation.
