The Culture of Death Has a New Champion

Michael Sean Winters  |  Feb. 19, 2013 Distinctly Catholic

The New Republic has a profile [1]of the new head of NARAL, Ilyse Hogue. They quote her saying,

"There's a joyous affect of having such a critical achievement culturally as our mothers and grandmothers did with Roe v. Wade."

Even if you believe women enjoy the right to terminate a pregnancy, and I do not, "joy" is not a word I associate with abortion. Do you? The scary part is that NARAL has recognized the need to try and enlist more younger women in its ranks. The pro-life community needs to do the same. And, the entire political culture needs to keep open the possibility that a new generation will not dig in as their predecessors did, but will actually try to forge a consensus in this nation about how to approach this contentious issue.
