Joshua J. McElwee is an NCR staff writer whose reporting and feature writing have earned several awards [1] from the Catholic Press Association and have been featured in The Huffington Post, The Irish Catholic, and other outlets.

He was also a finalist for the Religion Newswriters Association's award for Magazine News Religion Reporter of the Year in 2012 [2] and was a finalist for that organization's award for Religion Feature Writer of the Year in 2013.

Among international assignments, McElwee has reported for NCR from Kenya, Japan, and the Vatican. A graduate of The Catholic University of America, he is also a member of the Holy Family Catholic Worker community in Kansas City, Mo. As of July 1, 2013, he will take up a new role at NCR as national correspondent.
