Donna Schaper is senior minister of Judson Memorial Church in New York City. She has written 30 books, usually concerning spiritual responses to material problems, such as Sabbath keeping for the time famine, and rituals to sustain activists.

She is founder of the New York City New Sanctuary Movement and an active community builder. When not pastoring or organizing or writing, she keeps a great garden in Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and tends the earth.
