Faith and Justice: Defenders of church governance say the church can learn nothing from civil governments. But the church has borrowed government structures since the beginning.
McCarrick, who retired in 2006, has been on a tear in the past year, traveling all over the world as a roving ambassador, a role for which he's well suited.
The meetings began with discussions of areas of commonality between Catholicism and Islam and concluded with a commitment to issue a joint statement.
