Khartoum cardinal threatened at Mass

 |

KHARTOUM, Sudan -- Khartoum police arrested a man who rushed the altar with a dagger during a Mass celebrated by Khartoum Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako, reported the Sudan Catholic Radio Network.

SCRN reported Oct. 11 that police arrested a man identified as Hamdan Mohamed Abdurrahman after an aide, identified as Barnaba Matuec Anei, stopped him, confiscated his dagger and turned him over to security personnel. The incident occurred after the Gloria.

The Oct. 10 Mass was being celebrated at the Comboni playground, a sports field near a Comboni-run school in central Khartoum, to mark the feast of St. Daniel Comboni.
