This is the dirty little secret that the special interests in our state of Iowa and some food processors would not want consumers all over our country to understand. The book, In defense of Food lays out the problem so very clearly and has been maligned by those special interest groups, because of the negative impact it has. Like the movies made by Michael Moore who tries to bring real facts of a matter to light, is regularly demonized for his efforts. However, actual real facts in the public are hard to find and we see miss information everywhere; even in the public schools, who's limited information about food and nutrition sets a very bad precedence for a true understanding of many of our most pressing problems. It would seem we've raised a generation of no-nothings as to their actual own best interests.
Responsible people all over the world see our system of food production, health care, consumer protection and financial regulation and just shake their heads as to the convoluted nature and non-productive information it sends to most Americans.
