Instruments of God

I shall sing to Yahweh all my life, make music for my God...
Psalm 104:33

A small, wooden flute,
an empty, hollow reed,
rests in her silent hand.

It awaits the breath
of one who creates song
through its open form.

My often-empty life
rests in the hand of God;
like the hollowed flute,
it yearns for the melody
which only Breath can give.

The small, wooden flute and I,
we need the one who breathes,
we await one who makes melody.

And the one whose touch creates,
awaits our empty, ordinary forms,
so that the song-starved world
may be fed with golden melodies.

I am an instrument of God, as I take up my cross & follow Jesus,

Thankyou Joyce for that most

Thankyou Joyce for that most beautiful teaching today. I will never hear a flute again without being reminded of God's breathe in me when I empty myself of all my self-seeking clutter or when life does that for me. Bless you and your faithful ministry. Meg McKenzie--Scotland

I notice that often there are

I notice that often there are no comments to your wonderful postings. I beleive I am "guilty" of what most likely prevents others from replying to acknowledge your contributions.

After reading them, not only do I have no sense of controversy or something "to be answered", but I am left with a deep sense of peace and rightness and transcendance that requires no further words, and like these ones, are far too inadequate to express the profound gratitude felt.

Thank you so much for your quiet and gentle nuturing of spirit. I am enriched and sustained by it.

Peace.

Thank you Sr. Joyce for that

Thank you Sr. Joyce for that profound reflection on the flute. Reminds me of that line from the poet Tagore: "...only let me make my life simple and straight, like a flute of reed, for thee to fill with music".
