Philadephia priests arrested on sex abuse charges

Is this the same Cardinal Bevilacqua who addressed an international symposium at the Vatican on the topic:   “The Permanent or Continuing Formation of Priests”?

And just where does Cardinal Rigali fit into this unseemly cover-up intrigue?

Does this mean that five and a half years later prosecutors brought charges against the only person they could get after RCC hierarchical foot-dragging and obstruction that protected the men at the very top?     There are many unanswered questions as the cesspool continues to bubble-up.

So the monsignor was responsible for the cover-ups and transfers and the Archbishop was totally unaware of the pedophiles running loose in the archdiocese? I guess the Archnishop cared so little for his priests that he never asked his Secretary of the Clergy "How are things going?"
I know we have some morons in the episcopacy but who promotes them to be Archbishops of major sees like Boston, Milwaukee and Philadelphia?
I feel sorry for the good priests who have to cover for bishops who are clueless and other honest bishops who have to suffer the loss of credibility due to these cretins.

Our Church will never change until forced to do so by civil authorities. No wonder people doubt that there is integrity in the leadership!

The charges against Flynn are very weak. They are probably doing this for effect. Look at the wording, "chose to expose them to new victims." This implies intent. The statement implies a cavalier attitude at best & at worst even a desire to have other kids abused. And what law are they referring to exactly? There is no law on the books which says "Do not reassign abusive priests!" This is ridiculous.

It certainly was imprudent to reassign abusive priests. But clearly even if they were not sent for therapy there had to be some meeting with the bishop where they were dressed down for their behavior & where they gave a moral promise not to do it again. I doubt there was one priest in America guilty of abuse & reassigned without a solemn promise to the bishop to refrain from such behavior in the future. There would also be the question of sacramental confession in these cases which requires a firm purpose of amendment.

Obviously, that wasn't good enough but there simply is no guarantee that someone caught up in this pathetic behavior will not fall back into it. This gives a reason for zero tolerance but zero tolerance was simply not practiced in the Church prior to Dallas & Dallas is hardly a charter from the Almighty!

So much for the theory that the sex abuse crisis ended when John Paul the Great Enabler became pope. I must applaud District Attorney Williams for bringing these criminals to justice.

The Church has SEX ON THE BRAIN and this plays out in many perverted and wrong ways. Pedophilia, mesogenistic attitude towards the priesthood, contraception, etc. Educated and financially sucessful Catholics are pushing back on moral terms. The Vatican and the Boys in Red do not have a clue and are on a destructive path. Wake up!!

I'm waiting to see when Australia catches up on this point. As it stands, there has been no charges on culpabilty as far as bishops are concerned, even though Rome states they are respondable for their own diocese.
Luckily the Pro-Nuncio is exempt, what a hornets nest.

God protect the young people from suicide, as the Church is more concerned with the "Religious" trader Priests who denied their Sacred Trust and Honor to satisfy their own Ugly needs in the name of Catholic Power.
