Clever turn of phrase. I think the Pope sees it as a covenantal thing, involving human persons made for glory--as nothing less than a matter of full communion of brothers and sisters in the family of God.

for five hundred years they ruled us Roman Catholics right into the grave, from the early martyrdom of the English Jesuits through the Penal Laws in Ireland and onwards, world wide.
Now their own most oppressive bishops will rule us oppressed Irish Catholics from within our own One, Holy, Roman Catholic Church, which has been for so long our only refuge and our hope?
I don't know from denominators, but this is most low . . .
