This past Sunday at the Catholic Social Ministry Gathering in Washington D.C. — Mark Shields on Pope Francis’ September 24th visit to Congress:

"To watch Joe Biden and John Boehner, the Vice President and the Speaker of the House, both Catholics, figuring out when to stand and when to sit [crowd erupts in laughter.] And to see the Left jumping up when he speaks about the poor and the treatment of immigrants, and rightfully so, and the Republicans standing up when the Pope speaks about the ‘throwaway culture’ and the willingness to write-off the elderly, the marginalized, the unborn. He has a message that makes both sides uncomfortable."
