It's frozen over

I actually agree with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on something. Newsweek's choice of a cover photo of her in running shorts for an serious article about her political aspirations is sexist and inappropriate (though the headline, "How do you solve a problem like Sarah?" is pretty clever). She blasted the choice on her Facebook page. I have to agree with her on this. A similar photo of a male politician would be unheard of to accompany such an article.

Legs of a Rogue? From the

Legs of a Rogue?

From the moment of her selection as VP candidate SP's legs have been on show. This picture is a bit of a cheat as it doesn't show her actually exercising, even though waring trainers.

However, male pollies get the treatment too. If you Google "Sarkosy running" you will find pictures and articles on the topic of the French President, his fitness regime, his resultant weight loss and improved sexual performance. Admittedly, his legs aren't up to Sarah's standard.

Deplorable though the presentation is, can you envisage a Palin campaign without her sublime "understandings" being paraded?

She posed for the photo,

She posed for the photo, probably during the interview process. Maybe she should have asked them why they wanted the photo.

Stupid is as stupid does.

According to this story, she

According to this story, she posed for the photo for an article--on the topic of fitness--for Runner's World magazine, not for the Newsweek piece, which is not about fitness.

Come on, folks! Aren't we

Come on, folks! Aren't we sophisticated critical readers enough to KNOW this is just a win-win publicist's dream, having her cake and eating it too? Not only does she get her infamous legs on the cover of Newsweek, but she also gets to ACT outraged by it!!

How do you folks put any credence AT ALL in her intentions, and yet refuse to believe Love Thy Enemies effectively?!

What a master publicity stunt, and YOU BUY IT!?

This is like permitting her teen age daughter to have a live in boy toy, and yet and still getting all the pro-life Christian moral cred when the daughter has a baby instead of an abortion!

The photo in question was not

The photo in question was not taken by Newsweek, but by a runner's magazine that interviewed Mrs. Palin this past summer for a story about exercise and fitness.

By the way, it is not charitable (nor Christ-like) to call someone stupid. Especially when you do not have all the facts.

hey..anonymous...i hope you

hey..anonymous...i hope you can run like she can...in cancer raising
fund raises,etc... do you keep yourself healthy like she can..so i
will not have to pay for your health care?? and i do not hide behind
anonymous, or one name, what are you hidding from....read the last
chapter in her book from a man called Dewey Whetsell...who has saved
and rescued many of us over the yrs....you might learn something, and
your projected judgement is a sad revealation about you....dolores crowley

Oh please! How many photos

Oh please! How many photos have we seen of political men in their running or other attire? They have already been elected you say. Well, so has she, and she resigned from that position. You can't have it both ways - treat her seriously as a candidate who can hack it or call her a victim. She happily posed for this picture at some point in time. Is it because SHE didn't get to choose its use that is upsetting to her?

Unheard of? Don't think so.

And yet we read recently in the local daily paper out of Ciudad Juarez that US photographers are complaining about our fine new president's loose fitting jeans . . .

While it's true that other

While it's true that other news coverage has focused on male politician's weight and/or fitness regimes, I think what's less common (or unheard of) is the accompanying of a story about a male politician's political life with a photo of them bare-legged.

Well, when a republican

Well, when a republican commentator like David Brooks can say on national television "Sarah Palin is a joke" a world of understanding is revealed. Unfortunately, her book is filled with accusations against people that are simply untrue....lies actually. But that has been the modus operandi of Sarah Palin. She is simply a celebrity who is milking her notoriety for all it is worth. Maybe the picture is not fitting a "politician", but it certainly fits a celebrity.

Peace and blessings.

The message is - "I'm ready

The message is -

"I'm ready to run." That, presumably, is what NEWSWEEK discerned. Do you doubt it?

so like here is a kind of

so like here is a kind of ooky question but an ineluctable one:

To which "it's" is Heidi referring in the frozen title here?!!

just cannot help but wondering, and it is not a pretty sight for a desert hermit either, I must say!

oh....you judgers of

oh....you judgers of others....shame on you......for your penance i ask
if you read or heard her talk to over 800 folk at a Right to Life gathering
in Indiana???? Interesting, it was never covered on the news channels...
jealousy of her reveals your own image of yourself?....why does she challenge
your inner hidden self?...i know her...., i lived in alaska for over 25
yrs....after retirement my husband and i studied in Rome....i was asked by
a wife of an ambassador to speak to a gathering of wives of counsel generals,
ambassadors etc about alaska....after i shared about out volunteer years at
a hospice in the middle east for two yrs...then to study in Rome, i began
my presentation about my life there.....i talked about how we did not have
super markets to run to for food yrs ago, etc...so, yes, i hunted, fished,
rafted rivers, hiked mts., learned to survive in rugged awesome wild areas,
loved the people who cared for each other in sometimes challenging survival
situations...on and on.....i told them i thought all women should learn some
survival skills.....an ambassador's wife raised her hand, "why do you think
we should?"....well, ladies, 450 miles from Rome today, the women who sat
on the streets of S. in the Bosnian-Her...world, sipping champaign during the
Oyimpics are now being bombed to hell, raped, killed, etc...and do not tell
me it can not happen to any one of us. Laughing and making jokes about a
woman you to not know, who knows more about national security( we in alaska
have the system that protects you all in the lower 48), yes we are "spitting
distance" from Russia,.. she was involved in the Pacific Rim ecomonic mtgs
about our oil, gold, fishing industry, etc. etc....,the budgets she managed
were bigger than some states, on and on....attacking her the way the media
did is a dis-service to all women.....i would like to take some of you on a
reality tour of Alaska and i challenge the jealousy of those of you who
want a 'silk stocking' eastern bred woman, or a Hollywood image,....read the
ending of her book by a man called , Dewey Whetsell, who rescued and saved
many folks over the years.....he has lived over 45 yrs in Alaska and has
written his 'view'.....he shares information that i bet none of you know!!!!
And, yes, i know Dewey and admire his guts in this whole attack on a
woman. ...i do not hide behind anonymous, or odd name or only one name....
