NCR writers based in Washington and Rome will be in Kansas City, Mo., for an evening of conversation with NCR readers Thursday Jan. 28.

Vatican correspondent Joshua J. McElwee, senior analyst Jesuit Fr. Tom Reese, columnist Michael Sean Winters and editor at large Tom Roberts will hold a panel discussion moderated by NCR publisher Caitlin Hendel at St. Francis Xavier Church, 1001 E. 52nd Street, Kansas City, Mo.

So much is happening in the Catholic world today: Pope Francis will mark his third anniversary very soon. What reforms is he making? His exhortation from October’s Synod of Bishops on the family is expected to be released very soon. What's his message?

It may seem like the presidential election cycle started months and months ago, but not a single vote has been case in actual primaries and caucuses. What are the political issues important to U.S. Catholics during the 2016 presidential election? What are the justice issues that Catholics should be paying attention to?

Our panel will draw on their reporting and expertise to answer these questions and lots more. Please join us.

Doors open at 7 a.m. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28. St. Francis Xavier Church, 1001 E. 52nd Street, Kansas City, Mo.
