500 march on Sartain's Seattle cathedral

While Archbishop J. Peter Sartain was reportedly meeting with representatives of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious on Sunday, a crowd of more than 500 marched 2.4 miles and gathered at his cathedral in support of the sisters.

Sartain and two other bishops have been delegated by the Vatican to rein in LCWR. In a brief, public letter the previous day, Sartain said, "Religious women have made a lasting contribution to the well-being of our country and continue to do so today. For that, they deserve our respect and support, our thanks and our prayers."
