Pope’s Quotes: Common sanctity

My favorite quotes from Pope Francis:

“I see the sanctity of God’s people, this daily sanctity. There is a ‘holy middle class,’ which we can all be part of … I see the holiness in the patience of the people of God: a woman who is raising children, a man who works to bring home the bread, the sick, the elderly priests who have so many wounds but have a smile on their faces because they served the Lord, the sisters who work hard and live a hidden sanctity. Vatican official: 'If someone needs aid, the pope is close to him'

The newly appointed archbishop to a traditionally ceremonial Vatican office has reportedly said Pope Francis wants him to redirect the office to show the pontiff's personal care for those experiencing poverty.

Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, a Poland native who was appointed to be the "Almoner of His Holiness" in August, says the pope told him upon his appointment he "will not stay behind a desk signing parchments."

Pope’s Quotes: Courageous prayer

My favorite quotes from Pope Francis:

“How do we pray? Do we pray piously and calmly out of habit or do we place ourselves courageously before the Lord to ask for grace, to ask for what we are praying for? Prayer that is not courageous is not real prayer.  … Jesus tells us: 'What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give.'”
