In his General Audience address this morning, Pope Francis said that God wants to save Pilate and Judas too! I remember when John Paul II delivered a General Audience address in which he reflected on Balthasar's statement that the Christian must hope that hell is empty. The newspapers ran headlines like "While Ratzinger is away, John Paul II speaks Heresy!"
The scariest tweet you will see all day, all week, all year. In Belgium, thirty year olds, diagnosed with autism, opt for euthanasia. As I have noted before, the arguments against assisted suicide are not slippery slope arguments; they have slippery slope evidence.
In Monday's Washington Post, there was a fine article by Michelle Boorstein about gay clergy in which a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago outed himself. Chicago's Archbishop Blase Cupich issued a one sentence, unhysterical statement: "We support all our priests as they live out the promises they made on the day of their ordination." A BIG Bravo to Archbishop Cupich for putting the issue in the proper perspective, and a happy feast day to him as well.
