Bishop Oscar Cantu of Las Cruces, New Mexico, published a great op-ed in his hometown newspaper opposing the cuts in SNAP, formerly known as food stamps, proposed by the House Republicans. Las Cruces is one of the poorest dioceses in the country, so the bishop knows well the evil effects these cuts will have on his own flock.
